Adelina Ivan

Adelina Ivan lucrează cu diferite medii, de la video la instalații textile și desen, examinând structuri și geometrii în căutarea compoziției și dezintegrarii materiei. Practica ei se bazează pe o critică socială și culturală a convențiilor care au distorsionat un tărâm atotcuprinzător al posibilităților de a pune în aplicare feminitatea. Forța și fragilitatea sunt echilibrate într-o etapă de ritmicitate și mișcare repetitivă, care operează în neregularitățile formelor abstracte.

She studied at the Arts University in Bucharest and exhibited at Litost Gallery Prague, Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature Paris, MNAC Bucharest, Media Art Festival Arad, Artissima Torino, Anca Poterașu Gallery Bucharest, Spinnerei Leipzig, Kunsthalle Bega, tranzit .ro / bucurești, Tokio Art Screening Festival, Jean-Claude Mayer Gallery Frankfurt, MARe Museum of Recent Art Bucharest, Black and White Biennial Satu Mare Museum of Art, ODD Bucharest, Design Biennale Istanbul.

ARAC Art & Residency împreună cu artista Adelina Ivan vă invită miercuri, 16 februarie, de la ora 18.00, la galeria Anca Poterasu (Strada Popa Soare 26, București), pentru o nouă întâlnire Insomnia Nights & Days. Titlul evenimentului coincide cu expoziția artistei în Islanda, curatoriate de Lísa Attensperger, ca urmare a rezidenței sale artistice la ARTAK350, în peninsula Grundarfjordur.
 
During the event in Bucharest, we invite you to discover the artist’s explorations in her recent drawings and documentations of installations in the public space during the Icelandic residency. An installation consisting of three layers, with the surrounding landscape as a backdrop. The lines of the mountains and the lines of a salt pile are juxtaposed by a piece of rope, resembling the silhouette of naturas well as reminding the viewer of the outlines of the human body.
 
Supporting the installation are a series of sketches on display at the artist’s residency, dedicated to the process of recurring movement, in which the linear spread of time is unravelled. Abstract shapes disclose the duality of the body as a topography, as well as demonstrating terrane through the simplicity of linework. The basis of Adelina`s artistic practice is the social and cultural critique of practicing femininity, demonstrated through the human form. She uses the body as a base for putting into balance force and frailty, exposure and protection, transiency and permanence, represented by the idea of rhythm and repetitive motions.
 
Rezidența artistică a Adelinei Ivan în Islanda a fost organizată de ARAC și de partenerul său ARTAK350, în cadrul proiectului ARAC Art & Residency 2020 - 2022, cu sprijinul EEA Grants 2014 - 2021 în cadrul programului RO-CULTURA.
